California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered an independent investigation into the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and Los Angeles County Public Works following reports of low water pressure in fire hydrants and the unavailability of water from the Santa Ynez Reservoir, which holds 117 million gallons, during the recent wildfires in the Palisades area of Los Angeles. The investigation aims to understand the causes of the water supply issues and to ensure adequate water resources for future emergency responses. Newsom expressed concern over the impact of these water supply problems on firefighting efforts, particularly in protecting homes and evacuation corridors.
