VisitNew York Jets Fire Head Coach Robert Saleh, Name Jeff Ulbrich Interim Head Coach
Oct 8, 2024, 02:35 PM
The New York Jets have fired head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start to the 2024 season. Saleh, who had a 20-36 record over three-plus seasons with no playoff appearances, was dismissed amid growing dissatisfaction from the team's owner, Woody Johnson. This marks the first time Johnson has fired a coach mid-season in his 25 years of ownership. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been named the interim head coach. Saleh's firing comes after a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. Saleh was escorted out of the building by team security. The decision reflects the team's urgent need to meet high expectations and make significant progress. Johnson stated, 'This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations.'
