VisitNew Orleans Terror Attack Kills 15; Sugar Bowl Postponed to Thursday
Jan 1, 2025, 06:46 PM
A driver in a pickup truck plowed through crowds on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on New Year's Day, killing at least 15 people and injuring over 35 in an attack being investigated as an act of terrorism. In response, authorities placed the Superdome on lockdown for security sweeps, and teams are sheltering in place at their hotels. Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams and Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley confirmed that the Sugar Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal between Georgia and Notre Dame, has been postponed until Thursday at 7:45 p.m. local time. Authorities are working closely to ensure the safety of players and fans.
