The New Orleans Police Department has released body camera footage showing the confrontation that ended with the fatal shooting of Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the Islamic State group-inspired attacker who killed 14 people and injured 35 others in a truck rampage on New Year's Day. The footage depicts Jabbar firing at officers from inside his F-150 truck after it crashed into a crowd on Bourbon Street. Three officers, identified as Sergeant Nigel Daggs, Officer Christian Beyer, and Officer Jacobie Jordan, discharged their weapons in response. The incident resulted in injuries to two officers, Joseph Rodrigue and Jacobie Jordan, who were both shot in the thigh. The release of the footage comes amid ongoing investigations and a lawsuit filed by victims against the city and contractors, alleging failure to implement adequate security measures.
