VisitNew Horned Dinosaur Species Lokiceratops with Largest Frill Discovered in Montana
Jun 20, 2024, 01:59 PM
Paleontologists have discovered a new species of horned dinosaur named Lokiceratops rangiformis in Montana. The dinosaur, a relative of Triceratops, features elaborate blade-shaped nasal horns and the largest frill ever seen on a horned dinosaur. Fossils, including a skull and partial skeleton, were unearthed in Kennedy Coulee, near the U.S.-Canada border. Researchers describe Lokiceratops as the 'largest and most ornate' of its kind, providing new insights into dinosaur evolution. The dinosaur roamed the swamps of Montana about 78 million years ago.
