VisitNetflix in Talks with BuzzFeed to Stream Live 'Hot Ones' Shows, BuzzFeed Stock Up 15%
Sep 13, 2024, 06:06 PM
Netflix is in discussions with BuzzFeed to acquire the rights to stream live versions of the popular YouTube talk show 'Hot Ones,' hosted by Sean Evans. This move is part of Netflix's strategy to bolster its live TV lineup, which will soon include NFL games and wrestling. BuzzFeed's stock surged 15% following the news. The 'Hot Ones' show, produced by First We Feast, features celebrities answering questions while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings. In 2021, BuzzFeed took on $150 million in debt to finance the acquisition of Complex Networks, which owns First We Feast. The deal would bring several live episodes exclusively to Netflix.
