VisitNetanyahu Meets Trump at Mar-a-Lago for First Time in Four Years to Ease Tensions
Jul 26, 2024, 05:25 PM
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with former U.S. President Donald Trump at Trump's Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, on Friday. This meeting marks their first face-to-face encounter in nearly four years and aims to ease recent tensions between the two leaders. Netanyahu's plane landed in Fort Lauderdale ahead of the meeting, and his motorcade was seen heading towards Mar-a-Lago. During the meeting, Trump emphasized his commitment to working for Middle East peace and combating antisemitism if he returns to the White House. He also stated, 'No President has done what I’ve done for Israel.' Netanyahu expressed hope for reaching a deal, saying, 'I hope we reach a deal, time will tell.' The meeting comes after a period of strained relations following the 2020 U.S. presidential elections. Netanyahu presented Trump with a picture of one of the Bibas children kidnapped by Hamas, to which Trump responded, 'We'll get that taken care of.'
