Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed for New York on Thursday to address the United Nations General Assembly. He was accompanied by his wife, Sara, and traveled aboard the 'Zion Wing'. Netanyahu's departure occurs amid escalating tensions with Lebanon. Foreign Minister Israel Katz will serve as acting Prime Minister in Netanyahu's absence. Netanyahu is expected to return on Saturday night. Upon arrival, he was greeted by Israeli Consul General Ofir Akunis and Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny Danon. During his speech on Friday, Netanyahu stated he had not intended to attend due to the ongoing conflict in Israel but decided to come to 'set the record straight' after hearing 'lies and slanders' about his country. His address was met with a significant walkout by numerous diplomatic delegations. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is 'fighting for its life' and called for an end to the appeasement of Iran.
