VisitNEET-UG Petitioners Seek Retest for 3.5 Lakh Top Scorers Amid SC Hearing on Paper Leak Allegations
Jul 22, 2024, 06:25 AM
Petitioners in the NEET-UG paper leak case have filed an Intervention Application in the Supreme Court, requesting a retest for the 3.5 lakh top scorers. The Supreme Court is set to resume hearing the petitions today. The petitioners' counsel stated that the NTA admitted to the paper leak and the dissemination of the leaked question paper through WhatsApp. However, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan asserted during the Monsoon session that there is no evidence of a paper leak in the last seven years. He emphasized that over 240 exams have been conducted successfully under the NTA, with more than 4.5 crore participants. Chief Justice Chandrachud noted that the court needs to determine if the leak is localized to Hazaribagh and Patna or if it is widespread and systemic. The Chief Justice also mentioned that there is no material to prove a widespread leak in the NEET Exam 2024. The petitioner's counsel highlighted that the despatch of papers by NTA occurred on April 24.
