VisitNCAA Seeks Postseason Ban for Michigan Football; Sherrone Moore and Jim Harbaugh Implicated
Aug 4, 2024, 04:07 PM
The NCAA is reportedly seeking a one-or-two-year postseason ban for Michigan football due to a sign-stealing operation. Michigan has already faced penalties, including a three-game suspension for former head coach Jim Harbaugh and the firing of multiple coaches. The NCAA's notice of allegations, still in draft form, accuses seven members of the 2023 football program, including new head coach Sherrone Moore, of violating NCAA rules. Moore could face suspension and a show-cause penalty. Harbaugh, who has since moved to the NFL, may also be accused of a Level 1 violation. Additionally, Moore's cell phone records indicate he deleted text messages with exiled staffer Connor Stalions, though some believe the texts were innocuous. The NCAA also stated that Michigan football and former head coach Jim Harbaugh displayed 'dishonest conduct.'
