VisitNCAA Sanctions ASU for COVID Violations, Herm Edwards Gets 3-Year Penalty

The NCAA has imposed sanctions on Arizona State University (ASU) and four former football staff members for impermissible in-person contact with recruits during the COVID-19 pandemic. The penalties include four years of probation, vacated wins, a scholarship reduction, recruiting restrictions, and a five-year disassociation from an involved booster. Additionally, former head coach Herm Edwards received a show-cause penalty of at least three years. The NCAA described these as mitigated Level I infractions and decided against additional sanctions beyond show causes.
