VisitNCAA Recommends 30-Day Transfer Window, Settles for Unlimited Transfers
May 30, 2024, 07:38 PM
The Division I Men's Basketball Oversight Committee has recommended reducing the notification of transfer window from 45 days to 30 days, starting the day after the end of the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, the NCAA and a coalition of state attorneys general, including the DOJ, nine state attorneys general, and the DC AG, have reached a settlement to end the current transfer rule for Division I athletes that mandates a player sit out a year if they transfer a second time. The proposed consent decree, if approved by the court, will enjoin the NCAA from enforcing the Transfer Eligibility Rule and from adopting any similar rule in the future, effectively allowing unlimited transfers without penalty for players in good academic standing.
