VisitNBA Reopens 2021 Domestic Violence Investigation into Jaxson Hayes After New Video Surfaces
Nov 3, 2024, 10:55 AM
The NBA has decided to reopen its investigation into a 2021 domestic disturbance involving Los Angeles Lakers player Jaxson Hayes. This decision follows the release of new video footage by TMZ, which shows Hayes verbally abusing and physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora. The footage, which includes Hayes shoving and spitting at Jamora, has led the league to take a closer look at the incident. An NBA spokesman confirmed the reopening of the investigation, stating that it was a direct result of the media report and video. Hayes was playing for the New Orleans Pelicans at the time of the incident and was arrested in July 2021. The Lakers and Jaxson Hayes have not yet released an official statement regarding the renewed investigation. Lakers' JJ Redick commented that the team is aware of the reopened investigation and plans to cooperate fully, but declined to provide further comments.
