VisitNATO Allies, Including Netherlands, to Supply Ukraine with PATRIOT Air Defense Systems at Washington Summit
Jul 7, 2024, 05:37 PM
NATO countries are set to donate a significant package of long-range air defense systems to Ukraine at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington. The United States, Germany, and Romania will send three PATRIOT Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) units, while Italy and France will supply a SAMP/T system. Additionally, the Netherlands will provide an extra PATRIOT system, as announced by Dutch Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, Ruben Brekelmans and Caspar Veldkamp, during their visit to Kyiv. The Netherlands will also deliver a Patriot radar and three Patriot launchers to Ukraine, with 24 F-16 jets to follow shortly. This support is part of a broader effort to bolster Ukraine's air defense amid ongoing Russian shelling of civilian and critical infrastructure, including in Odesa and the Trypilska Power plant. The Dutch ministers also announced additional aid for human rights investigations and missing persons forensics.
