VisitNational Geographic Team Finds Remains of Explorer Andrew 'Sandy' Irvine on Everest After 100 Years
Oct 11, 2024, 11:16 AM
A National Geographic documentary team has discovered what are believed to be the partial remains of British explorer Andrew 'Sandy' Irvine on Mount Everest, nearly 100 years after his disappearance. Irvine, who vanished in 1924 alongside fellow climber George Mallory, has long been part of one of the greatest adventure mysteries in history. The discovery, which includes a foot encased in a boot and a sock bearing Irvine's initials, was made by a team that includes 'Free Solo' filmmaker Jimmy Chin. This finding could potentially shed light on whether Irvine and Mallory were the first to summit Everest before their tragic disappearance.
