VisitMysterious Drones Swarm Langley Air Force Base in Virginia for 17 Days, Pentagon Stumped
Oct 14, 2024, 12:18 AM
For 17 consecutive days in December 2023, a fleet of mysterious drones swarmed restricted airspace over Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. The Pentagon remains baffled by the incident, unable to determine who was operating the drones or their purpose. The drones, some reportedly 20 feet long and flying at speeds of around 100 mph at altitudes of 3,000 feet, have raised significant concerns about the vulnerabilities in America's air defense systems. Despite extensive investigations, U.S. officials have not identified the origin of the drones, which have also been spotted near other sensitive military sites, including Naval Station Norfolk, the CIA headquarters, and a nuclear test site in Nevada. The incident has highlighted a glaring blindspot in national security, with the Pentagon admitting it currently lacks the capability to effectively counter such threats.
