The collapse of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, has ignited a political confrontation between the ruling MahaYuti coalition and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). MVA leaders, including Aaditya Thackeray, staged a protest in Mumbai, marching from Hutatma Chowk to the Gateway of India. The protest is part of a series of demonstrations organized by the MVA, with further marches planned, including one on September 1. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and other MVA allies have condemned the incident, while Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized the protests as being politically motivated.
