A devastating rain-triggered mudslide struck Yuelin Village in Hengyang City, Hunan Province, central China, on Sunday. The landslide, which occurred at about 8 a.m. in the Nanyue district, partially washed away a residential house, leaving several people unaccounted for and burying others. Approximately 20 people were trapped, and 17 individuals have been rescued so far. Among the rescued, 11 were found deceased, while six were injured and transported to the hospital. The incident follows heavy rains brought by Typhoon Gaemi, which has caused multiple mudslides in the region. Local authorities reported that 18 people were feared to be buried.
