VisitMoraes Grants Conditional Release to Daniel Silveira with Ankle Monitor After PGR's Approval
Dec 20, 2024, 12:30 PM
On December 20, 2024, Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes granted conditional release to former deputy Daniel Silveira, requiring him to wear an electronic ankle monitor and prohibiting him from using social media. Silveira, imprisoned since February 2021, was sentenced in 2022 to eight years and nine months in prison for making statements against STF ministers. The Attorney General's Office (PGR) had earlier given a favorable opinion on his release in response to a request from his defense, noting that he had already served more than one-third of his sentence.
