Bolsonaro's passport has been withheld since February 2024 amid investigations into his alleged involvement in a coup attempt in 2023. This marks Bolsonaro's third attempt to retrieve his passport. His lawyers have submitted a formal request to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, claiming Bolsonaro was invited directly by the Republican committee. Moraes has asked Bolsonaro to present an official invitation, noting that the lawyers did not provide the necessary documents and requested a 'complementation' of the submission.
