A mob attacked the Nagpuri Gate Police Station in Amravati, Maharashtra, late last night, demanding an FIR against Hindu seer Yati Narsinghanand for alleged hate speech. The incident resulted in 21 policemen being injured as the mob hurled stones. The police have booked 1,200 individuals in connection with the violence. The controversy arose due to Narsinghanand's remarks against Prophet Muhammad, which were deemed objectionable. Amravati Commissioner of Police, Navinchandra Reddy, confirmed that the violence erupted when SDPI workers arrived to file a complaint.
