Missing An-2 Aircraft Found After 4 Days in Snow in Russia's Kamchatka, All Three Onboard Alive After Emergency Landing

A missing An-2 light aircraft, which disappeared on December 19 in Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, has been located with all three individuals on board found alive. The plane, carrying two crew members and one passenger, including a 68-year-old captain, was discovered near Mount Tundrovaya after a three-day search operation. The survivors endured temperatures of -20°C/-4°F and survived four days in the snow by burning fuel to stay warm after the plane made an emergency landing and overturned. The survivors were evacuated by a Mi-8 helicopter and are being transported to Milkovskaya District Hospital for medical evaluation. The aircraft had been en route from Milkovo to Ossora when it vanished from radar.
