May 16, 2024, 12:46 PM
Scientists from the University of Western Australia have captured rare footage of a deep-sea squid at a depth of more than a kilometer in the Pacific Ocean. The squid was filmed by the Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre and InkfishExplore and was seen lunging at an underwater camera. The footage shows the squid flashing its attack 'headlights' and glowing in the deep sea. Researchers described the event as a surprising and lucky encounter.
