Jan 13, 2025, 05:09 PM
Mike McCarthy will not return as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys after his contract expired and the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a new deal, according to multiple reports from NFL insiders including Adam Schefter, Tom Pelissero, and Ian Rapoport. McCarthy, who coached the Cowboys for five seasons and compiled a 49-35 record, informed his coaching staff that he won't return. The Cowboys and McCarthy were unable to agree on the length of a new contract. McCarthy leaves Dallas with a winning record and three playoff appearances. The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints are reportedly interested in McCarthy, who is now expected to pursue other opportunities.
