VisitMicrosoft Shuts Four Bethesda Studios, Affecting 1,900 Jobs
May 7, 2024, 01:44 PM
Microsoft's Xbox division has announced the closure of four Bethesda studios, including Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks, developers behind popular titles like Redfall and Hi-Fi Rush. This move, part of a broader restructuring within the company, aims to reprioritize resources towards other projects. Xbox Game Studio Head Matt Booty communicated the closures through an email to staff. The decision has sparked significant concern within the gaming community, especially considering the recent success of games like Hi-Fi Rush. The closures will impact several other studios as well, including Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios, with approximately 1,900 layoffs anticipated. Additionally, Roundhouse Studios will join ZeniMax Online Studios.
