Microsoft's LinkedIn Fined €310 Million ($356M) by Irish Regulator Over GDPR Violations in Targeted Ads

Microsoft-owned LinkedIn has been fined €310 million ($356 million) by Ireland's Data Protection Commission for illegally processing the personal data of users within the European Union for behavioral analysis and targeted advertising. The investigation, following a 2018 complaint, examined LinkedIn's compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The social media platform was found to have violated data protection laws by tracking users' personal data without proper consent to deliver targeted ads.
