Recent studies have shown that microplastics are infiltrating human brain tissue, with some evidence suggesting that human brains are now about 0.5% plastic by weight. An examination of autopsied bodies found that brain samples contained significantly more microplastics compared to other organs such as the liver and kidneys. In early 2024, 24 brain samples were analyzed and found to have an average of 0.5% plastic by weight. This alarming discovery highlights the pervasive presence of microplastics in the human body, raising concerns about potential health implications.
