Following his ejection, López threw his glove into the stands. In postgame comments, López expressed no regret for his actions and harshly criticized the Mets, calling them 'the worst team in probably the whole f---ing MLB.' He met with Mets officials David Stearns and Carlos Mendoza before speaking to the media. As a result of his behavior and comments, the Mets have decided to designate López for assignment.
