A methane gas explosion at the Madanjoo company's coal mine in Tabas, South Khorasan Province, Iran, has resulted in the death of at least 51 miners and injuries to 20 others. The explosion, which occurred around 9:00 pm on Saturday, trapped many workers underground. Rescue operations are ongoing to recover the remaining trapped miners, with 30 still trapped. The incident marks one of the deadliest mining disasters in Iran's history, with state media reporting that the explosion was caused by a gas leak in two blocks of the mine. At the time of the explosion, 70 workers were present at the site, and 17 were injured.
