VisitMeta Suspends Instagram and Threads Accounts Tracking Celebrity Jets, Citing Safety Concerns
Oct 22, 2024, 02:31 PM
Meta has suspended multiple Instagram and Threads accounts that tracked the private jets of celebrities, including those of Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Taylor Swift, and Donald Trump. The accounts, managed by college student Jack Sweeney, were removed due to concerns over privacy and the risk of physical harm to the individuals being tracked. Sweeney stated that 38 of his accounts were suspended. A Meta spokesperson confirmed the suspension, citing violations of the platform's privacy policy. This action follows similar measures taken by other social media platforms, such as Twitter, which banned Sweeney's jet-tracking accounts in 2022 after an incident involving Elon Musk.
