Meta's 'Movie Gen' AI Video Model to Rival OpenAI and Google, Launching on Apps by 2025

Meta Platforms Inc. has unveiled 'Meta Movie Gen', a new artificial intelligence model capable of generating high-quality videos with synchronized audio from simple text prompts. The state-of-the-art model, developed by Meta's AI research teams, consists of a 30-billion-parameter transformer model for video generation and a 13-billion-parameter model for audio. Movie Gen can create realistic 16-second videos at 1080p resolution and 16 frames per second. It offers a range of capabilities, including text-to-video generation, precise video editing, personalized video creation using user images, and video-to-audio transformation with optional text prompts. Meta plans to integrate Movie Gen into its apps by 2025, positioning it as a competitor to similar tools from OpenAI and Google.
