VisitMcLaren Secures Front Row in Abu Dhabi; Norris on Pole as Team Nears Constructors' Championship
Dec 7, 2024, 03:11 PM
Lando Norris secured pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, leading a McLaren front-row lockout with teammate Oscar Piastri qualifying second. This strong performance puts McLaren in a favorable position to clinch their first constructors' championship since 1998. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari qualified third in his final race for the team, while Nico Hulkenberg achieved an impressive fourth place for Haas, marking one of his best qualifying results. Max Verstappen qualified fifth after failing to improve on his final lap. Lewis Hamilton endured a disappointing qualifying session, colliding with a bollard in Q1 and set to start 18th in his final race with Mercedes. Charles Leclerc will start from the back of the grid after his lap time was deleted in Q2.
