VisitMax Holloway Moves to Lightweight After 21 Wins at Featherweight, Eyes Summer 2025 Return
Nov 2, 2024, 04:44 PM
Max Holloway has officially announced his permanent move from the featherweight division to lightweight in the UFC. In a recent statement, Holloway confirmed, "I can honestly say that I’m done with the 145-pound division. 155, here we come—and 155 is where I want to stay. This is a new chapter; this is where we begin." Holloway, who achieved 21 victories at featherweight and earned 10 performance bonuses, noted that he has only lost to notable fighters such as Ilia Topuria, Alexander Volkanovski, Conor McGregor, Darren Bermudez, and Dustin Poirier during his time in the division. He expressed his desire to return to the octagon in summer 2025, ideally competing against a ranked opponent, which could set him up for a potential title fight in the lightweight category. Michael Bisping commented that the opportunity for Holloway at featherweight has passed, suggesting that there are exciting matchups awaiting him at 155 pounds.
