VisitMattel Recalls 'Wicked' Dolls Featuring Ariana Grande Over Misprinted Porn Site
Nov 11, 2024, 01:28 PM
Mattel, the toy manufacturer, has apologized after mistakenly printing the web address 'wicked.com' of a pornographic website on the packaging of its new 'Wicked' movie-themed dolls featuring characters portrayed by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The dolls, based on the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical 'Wicked', were intended to link to Universal Pictures' official website 'wickedmovie.com'. However, the packaging only listed 'wicked.com', directing users to an adult entertainment site requiring visitors to be 18 years or older. The error was discovered by Indiana man Dan Goodwin and widely reported. Mattel has ceased sales of the dolls, removed them from retailers like Amazon and Target, and is advising consumers to discard the packaging or obscure the link. In a statement, Mattel said, "We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this." The company emphasized that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.
