Last month, masked burglars broke into the Windsor Castle estate and stole two farm vehicles while Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children were asleep at their residence at Adelaide Cottage nearby. The intruders reportedly scaled a six-foot fence, used a stolen truck to smash through a security barrier, and used the stolen vehicles to crash through a farm gate during their escape. The stolen vehicles included a black Isuzu pickup and a red quad bike. King Charles was not present at the estate at the time of the incident. Thames Valley Police are investigating the burglary. The incident has raised concerns about the effectiveness of security measures at the royal residence, especially following recent cutbacks to security personnel on the Crown Estate and previous security breaches.
