VisitMascherano to Replace Martino as Inter Miami Coach, Reuniting with Messi and Ex-Barcelona Teammates
Nov 22, 2024, 02:34 PM
Javier Mascherano is set to become the new head coach of Inter Miami, according to multiple reports. He will reportedly leave his position as the coach of Argentina's U-20 national team to replace Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, who recently resigned for "personal reasons." Mascherano will reunite with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez at the MLS club. The group previously played together during Barcelona's 2015 UEFA Champions League-winning campaign. Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas stated, “I’ve seen a lot of names and rumors. I can confirm that today we are close to finalizing an agreement with a coach. We’ll announce a new coach for Inter Miami in the next few days,” but did not confirm Mascherano's appointment. The official announcement is expected in the coming days.
