Maryland defeated the University of Southern California (USC) 29-28 in an unexpected comeback victory. USC led 21-7 at halftime and held a 28-14 lead early in the fourth quarter. Maryland rallied with 15 unanswered points, culminating in a touchdown by quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. with 53 seconds remaining. Earlier, USC attempted a 41-yard field goal on fourth-and-one with under two minutes left, but the kick was blocked. The loss marks USC's third consecutive defeat and fourth in five games, dropping their season record to 3-4 and 1-4 in the Big Ten conference. Head coach Lincoln Riley has now lost nine of his last 14 games, including a 2-9 record in his last 11 one-score games at USC. Maryland fans stormed the field in celebration of their largest fourth-quarter comeback win since 2020.
