Owned by Mark Zuckerberg, these services saw users across the globe reporting difficulties accessing them, with issues such as inability to send messages on WhatsApp and access content on Facebook and Instagram. Downdetector reported over 105,000 outages for Facebook, 23,700 for Instagram, and 7,300 for WhatsApp in the United States alone, highlighting the widespread nature of the disruptions. The outages began around 14:30 local time and affected both mobile and desktop platforms. Meta has yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the disruptions.
