Nov 1, 2024, 12:06 PM
Manchester United have announced the appointment of 39-year-old Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, becoming the youngest-ever manager in the club's history. Amorim, who is currently managing Sporting Lisbon, will join Manchester United on November 11 after fulfilling his commitments with his current club. Manchester United paid €11 million in compensation to Sporting Lisbon for his services. He has signed a contract until June 2027, with an option for an extra year. Amorim's first match in charge will be against Ipswich Town next month. He replaces Erik ten Hag, who was sacked on Monday following the club's defeat to West Ham. Manchester United described Amorim as one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football.
