VisitManchester United Agree €70m Deal with Lille for Leny Yoro, Beating Real Madrid
Jul 17, 2024, 10:05 AM
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Lille for the transfer of 18-year-old defender Leny Yoro for a fee of up to €70 million. Despite initial interest and preference from Yoro to join Real Madrid, the Spanish club was unwilling to match United's offer. Real Madrid had initially offered €20 million, which was significantly lower than United's bid of €63 million. Yoro's entourage and Lille's president pushed for the move to Manchester United, and the player has now decided to accept the transfer. He is set to undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract with Manchester United, with an option to extend for an additional year. The contract includes a salary of around €7 million. Real Madrid have been informed of Yoro's decision and have decided not to pursue any other central defenders in the market.
