VisitMan with Torch and Flare Gun Arrested at U.S. Capitol Visitor Center on Election Day

U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man at the Capitol Visitor Center around 12:30 p.m. ET on Election Day after he was found carrying a torch and a flare gun, and his clothes were wet and reeked of fuel. The man was stopped during routine screening as he attempted to enter the visitor center. Authorities closed the Capitol Visitor Center for tours for the rest of the day while an investigation is conducted.
