VisitMalcolm X's Daughters Sue FBI, CIA, DOJ, NYPD for $100 Million Over 1965 Assassination Cover-up
Nov 15, 2024, 07:55 PM
Malcolm X's family has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the FBI, CIA, Department of Justice, and the New York Police Department, alleging that these government agencies were involved in the civil rights leader's 1965 assassination and subsequently covered up their roles. At a press conference, three of Malcolm X's daughters, including Ilyasah Shabazz, announced the lawsuit, accusing the agencies of failing to prevent his murder despite being aware of credible threats against his life. The lawsuit alleges that the agencies engaged in excessive use of force, deliberate creation of danger, and failure to intervene. Malcolm X was shot 21 times during the attack nearly 60 years ago. The family's attorney, Ben Crump, stated that new evidence has emerged indicating government complicity. The family seeks justice and accountability decades after Malcolm X, a militant civil rights leader, was fatally shot during a speech in New York City.
