Director Luca Guadagnino's latest film 'Queer,' starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, premiered at the 81st Venice Film Festival. The film, an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' novella, explores themes of unrequited love and addiction set in 1950s Mexico. Guadagnino described the film as a potentially 'ultimate love story,' emphasizing its universal appeal. Daniel Craig, who has long wanted to work with Guadagnino, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, 'If I wasn’t in this movie and I saw this movie, I’d want to be in it.' The film features explicit gay sex scenes, which Craig and Starkey aimed to make 'touching and real.' The premiere was attended by Craig, Starkey, Guadagnino, Rachel Weisz, Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, and Omar Apollo. During the press conference, Guadagnino responded to questions about the possibility of a gay James Bond, saying, 'Guys, let’s be adults in this room for a second.' Craig and Starkey prepared for their intimate scenes by 'dancing' together.
