VisitLSU Brings Live Tiger to Saturday's Game Against Alabama, Sparking Outcry
Nov 9, 2024, 04:48 PM
LSU has brought a live tiger to its football game against Alabama on Saturday, marking the first time in nearly a decade that a live tiger has been on the field. The tiger, however, is not Mike VII, the school's on-campus tiger, but one supplied by a Florida man with a history of animal rights violations and mistreatment of tigers, who has had tigers escape from him twice. This decision, made at the behest of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, has sparked outcry and concerns over animal cruelty, with organizations like PETA condemning the move. LSU traditionally kept a tiger in a $3.7 million on-campus habitat built in 2005 and used to bring it to games. The revival of this tradition has upset some fans and animal rights activists.
