VisitLouisiana's 22-Story Capital One Tower Imploded After Hurricane Damage
Sep 7, 2024, 03:42 PM
An abandoned, 22-story building in Lake Charles, Louisiana, known as the Capital One Tower, was imploded today. The skyscraper, once the tallest building in the city, had been damaged by Hurricane Laura in 2020 and had remained vacant for nearly four years. The building, which also suffered damage from Hurricane Delta, became a symbol of the destruction caused by these hurricanes. Authorities decided to implode the structure due to its uninhabitable condition and the financial impracticality of repairing it. Hurricane Laura was a Category 4 storm.
