Louisiana has enacted a new law allowing surgical castration as a punishment for individuals found guilty of sex crimes against minors under the age of 13, including the removal of testicles. The legislation, introduced by State Senator Regina Barrow and signed into law by Governor Jeff Landry, took effect on August 1. This makes Louisiana the first state to implement such a measure. The law grants state judges the authority to order surgical castration for offenses including rape, molestation, and incest.
