The city of Los Angeles has agreed to pay $9.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the relatives of a woman who was fatally shot by Los Angeles Police Department officers during a shootout at a Trader Joe's store in Silver Lake in 2018. The settlement, described by the family's attorneys as the largest pre-trial settlement ever paid by the city over an LAPD shooting, was approved by the Los Angeles City Council.
