The Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles has agreed to pay $880 million to settle childhood sex abuse claims made by more than 1,353 alleged victims. The settlement, which addresses allegations dating back to the 1940s, is the largest single payout by an archdiocese in the United States. This agreement brings the total amount paid by the Los Angeles Archdiocese, the largest archdiocese in the U.S., to settle sex abuse cases involving priests over the past two decades to more than $1.5 billion.
