Lithuania has expelled three Chinese embassy employees, citing violations of the Vienna Convention and Lithuanian legislation. The expelled individuals were declared persona non grata and given one week to leave the country. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry stated that the diplomats' actions lacked proper accreditation and contravened diplomatic norms. Remigijus Motuzas, head of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, commented on the decision. This move could potentially escalate tensions between Lithuania and China, although Lithuania's incoming prime minister has expressed openness to restoring diplomatic relations with Beijing.
