Lionsgate Partners with Runway to Use Gen-3 Alpha AI Model, Aiming to Save Millions

Lions Gate Entertainment has entered into a significant partnership with AI startup Runway to integrate generative AI technology into its film and TV production processes. The collaboration aims to create a new AI model, Gen-3 Alpha, tailored to Lionsgate’s extensive catalog, which includes over 20,000 film and TV titles such as 'John Wick,' 'The Hunger Games,' and 'Twilight.' The initiative is expected to enhance creative processes, such as storyboarding and special effects, while also cutting costs, potentially saving the studio millions of dollars. Initially, the AI tool will be used for internal purposes. Additionally, Lionsgate and Runway plan to license the AI model to other entertainment companies in the future.
